Geekly World News – March 14, 2016

Welcome to the latest edition of Geekly World News, our round-up of all the biggest news from the world of comics, video games, movies, and more.

A new trailer is out for Captain America: Civil War and it features our first look at Tom Holland’s portrayal of Spider-Man. It’s a very brief glimpse, but I really like what I see so far. Spider-Man is my favourite superhero, and I can’t wait to see this new Marvel Studios version of the character hang out on the big screen with the rest of the Avengers. The movie comes out on May 6, and I’ll be doing everything in my power to be there for the first showing.

Welcome back to Geekly World News, our round-up of all the biggest news from the world of comics, video games, movies, and more.

The Justice League is coming back to television with Justice League Action, a new animated series currently in the works at Cartoon Network. Bleeding Cool reports that the format will be similar to Teen Titans Go!, in that each episode will be comprised of two 11-minute shorts. Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill are reprising their roles of Batman and the Joker, respectively, though we do not yet know who will be voicing Superman and Wonder Woman. As a big fan of the Justice League and Justice League Unlimited animated shows, I can’t wait to see if this new show captures that magic once again.

Justice League

With the news that Gal Gadot will be playing Wonder Woman and Ray Fisher will be making an appearance as Cyborg, it seems like a foregone conclusion that Zack’s Snyder’s Batman vs Superman movie is rapidly becoming a Justice League movie. While some might be excited for the long-awaited JLA to make their first-ever live-action, big screen appearance, I can’t help but think that the way this whole project is coming about is a horrible idea, and quickly becoming in danger of careening towards disaster.

This episode on the Rogues’ Gallery: The World’s Finest (Batman & Superman combo-show)!

This week it’s a decidedly smaller show, as Sandy and Vince sit down to discuss one of the most storied friendship in comics history. Also on the docket: the internet controversy that is Batfleck, Wonder Woman vs The Glass Ceiling, and whether you could make a kick-ass investigative journalism comic starring Lois Lane.
